New Year ...
As much as I ended the year 2010 in reflection and unable to write a line on the issue of weight, image, beauty, 2011 promises to be as much a year when it will be impossible not to speak. It's stronger than me and admit that since the beginning of the year, the media do not give the song, either via physical activity or diet.
I could talk about physical activity, but it was so matter given the new Health Canada recommendations, I invite you to read the article instead of
Foglia about this and that, again, to Marie-Claude Lortie
.
Instead, I will speak with passion and frustration!
start with the frustrations
It is no secret to anyone who knows me a little, I'm sick of the "struggle" to obesity. I do not deny that we have a major problem at this level, but I think targeted the weight of people by telling them that should lose weight if you want to be healthy is part of the problem rather than helping the cause. And when I read great researchers said that people trivialize their overweight and did not préoccuppent, I wonder what world they live in and suggests they get out some of their lab and talk to these people they link finger.
First, the weight is not a disease, it is a risk factor, like high blood pressure. You're not sick because you're fat, but your chances of developing certain diseases related to increase your weight. We talk about correlation, not causality!
other hand, I think we went around regarding the promotion of healthy lifestyles and what is not "successful" without being a total failure either, but it is due to renewal.
Which brings me to the passion
That's recommendations for experts who are then evaluated our quality of life and other variables like that, but for ordinary mortals, not a motivator or a demotivator.
It is motivated when you love what you do, when you derive pleasure and well-being, pride. For me, it's rock climbing and yoga, but it could be cooking, crafts, gardening, travel, photography, etc.. And it was an effort every time. Physically yes, but also in terms of motivation, especially in winter. But every time I finished climbing and I finish in Savasana yoga, I feel an immense and well-being, regardless of whether I do 20 or 150 minutes per week. So, effort and sense of reward are part of passion in my case.
For me, this is a sport or discipline me so some say it's what makes me keep my weight. Perhaps, but I'm not convinced. I think my two passions of life helps me to be connected to who I am helps me to be good, be at peace and that is what helps me to be attentive to my needs as at the food as the rest. Sometimes I feel like eating much fat pizza or a good fry with a big burger, but often I want to eat lots of fruit, cook me stuff home, because that's what I gives more energy to be well and I think it would be the same thing if I was tripper was the music or theater.
Let go
The phrase "letting go" has often very negative connotation and is often associated with a failed regime. "Oh, I'm letting go, I stopped paying attention!". And if, instead, it was exactly that ranged part of the solution. Let me explain. The control is omnipresent everywhere: 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day, 30 minutes of daily physical activity, eating everything but without much of a good thing, etc.. It feels like the Others, Experts who knew better than us what our body needs here and now. It seems we need a guideline for several behaviors that are natural to humans.
For 2011, I wish you to be more in tune with your inner voice as that of others. Sometimes your voice is full of empathy to you and at other times, it will imprint of guilt related to years of control. Play it, hear it and let it go.
